Could your client survive a cyber attack? A live breach workshop

Workshop

2026-10-08 | 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM | Workshop area 1

Information

Cyber risk remains one of the most misunderstood and undervalued exposures in commercial insurance. While most businesses clearly understand the physical and financial consequences of a fire, many still struggle to visualise the digital equivalent: how an attack begins, how quickly it can spread, and the operational, financial and reputational damage it can cause.

This interactive workshop will place delegates in the midst of a realistic cyber incident as it unfolds. Through a live hacking demonstration, an evolving commercial case study and a series of table-based decisions, brokers will see how an apparently ordinary business can be compromised and how rapidly the situation can escalate.

Delegates will be challenged to decide how the business and its broker should respond, what actions should be taken during the first critical hours, and where insurance, incident response, and risk management can make a material difference.
  • How straightforward attacks can compromise apparently well-protected businesses
  • What happens during the first hours of a cyber incident
  • How cyber losses extend beyond data breaches into fraud, disruption and business interruption
  • The decisions brokers may need to make alongside clients during an attack
  • How brokers can make cyber risk more tangible and relevant in client conversations
  • What practical measures can reduce the likelihood and impact of an incident
